

YouTube in a test mode launched a cheaper subscription, which he called Premium Lite, writes Forbes with reference to the portal The Verge.
Premium Lite subscriptions are being tested in seven countries – Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. The page states that the subscription will allow you to watch videos without ads. YouTube told The Verge that the price of a “facilitated” subscription will be 6.99 euros per month or the equivalent in local currency.
The basic version of the YouTube Premium subscription costs 11.99 euros per month in Europe – 40% more expensive. The company confirmed in a statement that the new subscription will disable advertising. Downloading video to memory for viewing without the Internet and background playback when working with other applications that are available in the main subscription, the company message is not mentioned.
YouTube noted that the new subscription is in the experimental stage and that the company is considering expanding the list of offers depending on the reaction of users. Videos on the platform can be watched without a subscription, but then the service will show ads: sometimes you can skip it in five seconds, sometimes you have to open the video completely.
YouTube’s revenue in the second quarter of 2021 exceeded $ 7 billion – an increase of 83% over the same period in 2020. As a result, YouTube’s revenue approached Netflix’s quarterly revenue of $ 7.34 billion.
