When you want something light, healthy, but at the same time fresh and summer, I advise you to make a Greek salad.
A classic Greek salad also called a country salad in Greece, must contain coarsely chopped vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers), olives, and feta, which are not cut at all, but put in one flat piece on the salad, generously sprinkled with spices. This salad is very fond of olive oil, and therefore it is not spared for dressing, give quite a lot. We will prepare a Greek salad adapted to modern European cuisine in general and Ukrainian in particular.
Ingredients
3 medium tomatoes
2 medium cucumbers
250 g of feta
1 bell pepper
1 jar of olives (about 300 ml)
red onion or shallots
olive oil, salt
black pepper
oregano
Preparation
Peel a cucumber. Tomatoes and cucumbers in the classic version are cut into fairly large pieces, in our case, we will cut them into large cubes. Feta is also cut into large cubes, bell pepper – slices, and onions – thin half-rings. Determine the amount of onion according to your own taste preferences.
Now for the mixing. It is very good if this salad is not mixed, and spread in portions on the dish, then all the products will retain their beautiful and fresh look, and tomatoes will not release excess juice. But, in the end, you can mix all the ingredients (tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, olives, and onions) in a bowl – just gently and lightly.
Now prepare the salad dressing. To do this, mix olive oil (5-8 tablespoons), salt, ground black pepper, and oregano. Pour this mixture over our Greek salad and you’re done. Please come to the table!
