Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced on Twitter that he is willing to sell even more of his company’s stock.
As a result, he responded to Congressman Bernie Sanders’ remarks with a plea for fair taxation of America’s super-rich. “We must demand that the very rich pay their fair share,” Sanders wrote. “I keep forgetting that you are still alive. Do you want me to sell more shares, Bernie? Just say one word, ”Musk responded.
Earlier, the businessman asked Twitter followers to decide whether to sell 10 percent of the company’s shares. The poll was linked to the initiative of Democratic Senator Ron Wyden to oblige the richest Americans to pay a 23.8 percent tax on stock gains. Musk criticized this and said that he was going to pay taxes only on the condition of the sale of part of the shares since this is his only source of income.
More than three and a half million people took part in the voting. 57.9 percent of respondents supported the sale of securities. Already on November 10, Musk sold 2.5 million options for Tesla shares.
