While Elon Musk is jokingly shaking up the value of bitcoin, the first country in the world has already recognized this electronic currency as a means of payment.
The parliament of El Salvador has decided to recognize bitcoin as another means of payment, reports CoinDesk. 62 parliamentarians voted for this decision, 19 against and 3 abstained. So in the near future, El Salvador President Naib Bukele will sign a law that will allow everyone to accept bitcoins for payment, as well as US dollars.
Of course, preparing for such an innovation is not so simple, so the country plans to allocate 90 days to create an infrastructure for payments in electronic currency. All El Salvador businesses must accept bitcoins, and organizations that fear a volatile cryptocurrency rate will receive support from the state.
